Tarot for the Month of April 2020

Katie-Ellen Hazeldine – The Emperor / Queen of Cups

I have drawn two cards for this month which yet again, promises to be too interesting to be comfortable. This month I have drawn The Emperor and The Queen of Cups.

I went to sleep asking for confirmation of the cards, and dreamed I was charged at by an aggressive brown and white ram lamb, which I had to subdue, which took some doing, and which I take as extra confirmation for the Emperor card. See the ram’s heads on his throne?

Emperor - Tarot for the Month of April 2020The Emperor couldn’t be more suitable. He is specifically associated with the zodiac fire sign of Aries, and we enter Aries 19 April.

The Emperor is rule, governance, law and order, and the patriarch, the father in a family, while Queen of Cups, like the Empress, is the mother, the matriarch, and refers to family life in general, as well as beauty, romance, the arts and the non-surgical healing arts.

As we are already seeing, significant pan-global government interventions or measures may be expected to continue throughout April in respect of public health.

In the March edition of Tarot Tuesday, I mentioned a possible peaking of Coronavirus to occur during March, and this has so far turned out to be the reported peaking of outbreaks of Covid-19 in China.

However, this has clearly been only the beginning. Special measures look likely to continue through April, with travel restrictions, cancelled sporting and other public events, closure of restaurants and shopping malls and possibly schools, etc

The situation in general looks likely to intensify in the near future, but in those countries already experiencing cases, looks as if it may with luck start to ease or plateau after the New Moon in Taurus on 23 April.

Queen of Cups - Tarot for the Month of April 2020The Queen of Cups is associated with the zodiac sign of Cancer, the sign of home and family, and date-wise, though this is purely speculation, suggests a possible peaking of the recently declared pandemic, also foreshadowed in the March issue of Tarot Tuesday, and globally speaking, possibly late June-July, but with economic effects continuing into November/December 2020 and beyond.

You do not need to be a doctor to take self-educate, develop your knowledge and nursing skills, and practise good care of your loved ones.

Let’s not panic. The Tower card remains conspicuous by its absence and indicates though this is very serious, and any death from this virus is tragically sad, it is not catastrophic. It will pass and much will be learned.

Historical Note: The Black Death was one of the most devastating pandemics in history, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 75 to 200 million people in Eurasia and peaking in Europe 1347 – 1351. The Black Death was thought to have come from Central or East Asia, reaching Europe via the Crime along the Silk Road and is thought to have killed 30-60 % of the population of Europe.

This is not the Black Death or the End of Days. Very far from it.

Green is coming back to the northern hemisphere in springtime, to the poor burnt lands in Australia. Glorious, gorgeous green.

Kyra Oser – King of Pentacles

Tarot Deck King of Pentacles 600x400 - Tarot for the Month of April 2020The tarot card my deck revealed for April is King of Pentacles. Seated on a throne decorated with bulls, he holds a coin in the forefront of his castle. His staff is similar to The Magician card and signifies his ability to create abundance in the material world. The mood this month is monetary loss, but it is in the higher purpose of the eventual manifestation of money. In this case, the manifesting represents a reaction against a time of losses. During a period of strife, it becomes more apparent that in order for all of us to survive, we have to look out for one another and share our resources. This issue is especially apparent in the vast disparity of wealth in the US, but financial inequality exists to one extent or another all over the world.

This is a month of the unveiling of wealth, the revealing of truth behind assets of the richest, most powerful, and most famous figures. A media leak uncovers who has been hiding assets, how much, and where, and this discovery sparks a revolution of consciousness around whether or not there should be a personal limit to ownership of planetary assets. People all over the world will begin to ask, “why not me?” and demand a better way of life. The notion of abundance will simultaneously become more attainable and more out-of-reach at the same time. How is this dichotomy possible? Well, there have to be enough losses before it’s undeniable that too much is missing from the lives of most people and the planet cannot sustain an equilibrium when individuals take so much more than they need and leave others with none. The good news is that these global financial losses are temporary, but the later gains will generate long-term benefits.* In the meantime, expect some rationing. However, that rationing has a higher purpose of benefitting the planet by potentially slowing the effects of climate change. Think of it as cleaning your home: giving away what you don’t need to someone who does need it so you can do an inventory on your assets and gain a more livable environment.

In your own life, meditate on prosperity and gratitude for what you already have. Perhaps you can recall a time when you felt taken care of to reawaken those feelings of stability and guidance that you’ve acquired from a higher source and embedded in the memory of your unconscious mind. We get more of what we focus on, so keep your mind on the things you want to have more of in your life. Thoughts are like seeds, planting ideas for future growth. Tap into your creativity and rethink what it means to you to be successful. Is wealth also about the time you spend with your family or family of choice, the time you have to make art, the time you put into crafting inventions or practising hobbies or exercising or studying or building friendships? A great deal of Western civilisation has defined success as being equated with an accumulation of wealth, but for the first time in perhaps thousands of years, we will have an opportunity to shift from predominantly material ideals to principally relationship-oriented and spiritual values. The King of Pentacles brings the gift of a new form of resources, something different than what we’ve ever known before. Once these gifts are given to us, keep in mind that sometimes the wisest investment of the worldly treasures we’ve gained is in saving them to buy ourselves less time at work and more time to spend with the ones we love.
