Repair, Recovery and Renewal

Aries, we have a Full Moon and an Eclipse on Friday the 10th of January. It falls in an area of your horoscope that rules your social life, your family, your flatmates and the emotional side of where you come from, and where you fit. Give yourself a lot of space and time on Thursday the 9th, Friday the 10th, and Saturday the 11th of January.

Try not to judge too much. I understand you’ll want to get right away from one situation, but the fact is – what astrologers can see, that you cannot – is the eclipse. This makes everything hard to see clearly or truthfully. You are probably interpreting particular friendships, social connections, family ties or household relationships as tarnished.

What your horoscope says is simple. It’s the weather. There is nothing that is not precious here, and when the time is right, you will come back to particular people and situations and see them very differently. I am writing this not far from the most beautiful Australian beach, but on dark and stormy days, when the sand is covered in black seaweed and birds wash up on the shore – it’s not exactly cheerful.

Your Own Climate Change

Then the weather changes, the sun comes out, the blue water sparkles and the dolphins dive. Same place, different climate. It is exactly that way for you, Aries, and when the time is right, and this lunar cycle has passed out of your life, you will come back to who/what you currently feel you have to leave behind.

The eclipse falls half in Cancer, the zodiac sign which rules your place in the world. Your sense of belonging. The other half falls in Capricorn, the sign that rules the hierarchy, or the pecking order, or ‘the system’ for you. I think there is a part of you, which has had quite enough of that. Being the most active, energetic and motivated sign of the zodiac, I think you lack the patience to hang around and put up with it all, so January 2020 seems like the right time to go.

When you are good and ready, and when everything and everybody looks brighter, lighter and more inviting – you will return. While you take your break, or move on/away Aries, do think about how you might run things differently, later in 2020. In fact, with all these Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions ahead, in the practical sign of Capricorn, it’s a can-do year, when you can and should rearrange the set-up with people, to make it better. They are locked into their own ‘order’ and in January, this is not for you. Yet, things can and should shift, between them – and you.

Capricorn is a very ambitious sign. It describes the mountain goat who climbs to the peak. Social climbing and professional goal setting are part of Capricorn weather.

Why January 12th and 13th Matter

You’re not immune to that in January. In fact, Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th of January clearly show you have Everest on one side, and Kilimanjaro on the other. No wonder you are eyeing new places to reach – socially or professionally. I am sure you are convinced this is something you could do, and it would help you get away from who/what is frankly so unappealing.

Do not underestimate eclipses, though. They can be misleading and put you on the wrong path. The fact is, whatever has happened to take the shine off particular people or set-ups, will not last. It would be a real shame to turn your back on people who are, deep down, living treasures.

Don’t commit yourself so heavily to new mountains to climb, socially or professionally, that you never come back. It’s your choice. You can do what you like! But…history and astrology tell us; an eclipse is always a real blind spot and you have it now.

Foreign Flags for 2020

People, places, nationalities and cultures which are foreign to you, dominate January. This may be another state of America, if you are living in New York or Los Angeles. If you are based in Great Britain, it may be an exotic city, on a different time zone, or perhaps just its locals.

You have an unusual amount of Capricorn weather in your house of travel. This is also where we find travel in the mind. Are we talking about ‘the pond’ which separates London from Washington, or are you reaching from mainland Australia across to New Zealand or Tasmania?

This is of course holiday time right around the world and it may be a vacation that draws you closer to the history, background and particular personality of a rather special place.

Ceres in Capricorn

The planet Ceres is a symbol of sharing and compromise. One for you, and one for me – and one for them. She is now passing through this area of your horoscope, where everything must be divided in a new way.

You have a stellium in your Ninth House, which rules global thinking and useful geography lessons. Of course, all this is happening against the background of a European Union break-up, as Great Britain is finally free (something astrology predicted as far back as 2015). This is a new world with new rules under new flags.

Speaking One Language Online

You have an important Full Moon and Eclipse on Friday the 10th of January which falls in your house of communication. This is where you sort out your online life, websites, Twitter account and email. It is also where you organise Skype or YouTube.

Speaking one language online, no matter what level of translation is required, becomes a key part of your month – and later on, your whole year. You seem fully absorbed with maps in January. Heaven knows, maps are fascinating things, but there is a very important option for you waiting at the other end of a telephone or computer. You would be foolish to ignore it; this is a conversation you need to have, if only with yourself.

Eclipses are blind spots. You don’t see, are unaware, switched off and out of touch. Please know that this communication issue, which is very likely to be Twitter (given that this is how the world talks to itself) is omnipresent in January.

You must absolutely make sure that everything is practical, organised, sensible and productive – as you take care of two places at once, or even a whole range of them, from one part of the map to the other. At eclipse time, close to Friday the 10th of January it would pay you to turn your attention to what is also taking my attention, as an astrologer.

January is full of migrating birds in nature and in the human world. It’s the month when people take off, travel, emigrate or relocate. Once again, you may not be seeing what you need to see, in this department. Once the eclipse has passed, look twice.

As much as you have some major issues to sort out, around your personal map, you should find out what a particular traveler, migrant, diplomat, translator, tourist or similar, has to tell you. So very much depends on communication and translation, now.

nptbvokkom8 600x451 - Your January 2020 Monthly Horoscope

Your House, Apartment, Business or Property Investment

The time has come to plant a high-potential plan which would make such a difference to your house, apartment, business or property investment. Nothing is real until you make it so. You have to believe the vision when you see it, very close to the day that your ruler Mercury joins big-thinking Jupiter, on Thursday 2nd January.

I realise this has all the hallmarks of New Year’s Eve thinking and once the dream wears off, or the cocktails do, you may be left with some uncertainty about how your plan will happen, or when.

The idea of planting something for future generations is central to the horoscope, for so many Gemini people. Perhaps you as well? Or maybe you just need to rent, as you’ve never rented before.

It’s very important that you seize the day. The fact is, you have a huge amount of traffic in your Eighth House, which rules the real-estate market, the value of an extension or landscaping to a home, the potential of AirBnB and so on. I realise I have some rather rich and powerful readers, so let’s also say, this could be about your property portfolio!

What I find interesting about your chart in January is that this grand plan comes out of pessimism. Every cloud has a silver lining. Along with Jupiter, the planet of big thinking (and positive thinking) you also have Saturn to deal with. From the negative will come the positive, as you are about to experience a stunning pattern of hope which has not occurred for about 12 years.

I’d also like to take you back in time to April and May 2001, when you experienced the same pattern that you are seeing in January 2020. Did you buy or build a home then? Did you rent somewhere new, or renovate? Was that the start of a property investment?

The fact is you are standing on your own past this month. The South Node in Capricorn is tremendously important, as it takes you back to former achievements. Just remembering can help.

I would prefer you avoided the eclipse on Friday 10th January as history tells us, this is when secrets are kept, the truth is never obvious, and you can be so easily duped or misled. Stay away (which is something my former colleague, Tatler astrologer Debbi Kempton-Smith would have advised).

Yet, if you are prepared to show faith, trust the future, and be practical and proactive, you can take a vision and make it grow. In fact, the correct word for what 2020 offers is ‘growth’ – no matter if you want to create a garden, sign on the dotted line with a new investment, or make someone else’s residence your own.

Jupiter is associated with acorns and oaks. It has been that way since Roman times (and they gave us the astrology we use today). I am sure you know the phrase ‘from little acorns, do mighty oaks grow’ and I think that is so appropriate for you in January. You’re in the right time and place, to take something with massive potential. Even if it comes to you from a rather grey or depressing situation, so what? Make it real and make it yours.

Cancer

g1yhu1ej 9a 600x400 - Your January 2020 Monthly Horoscope

Strategies and Tactics in January 2020

There is a lot to be said for clever strategy and tactics in January, Cancer. You are going into eclipse season and it’s focused on your opposite sign, which is Capricorn. In astrology, opposite signs tend to produce battle stations situations. This eclipse is also a Full Moon, and again, that’s about opposites. It takes place on Friday the 10th of January. We associate the Full Moon with any D-Day situation and one literally hung over the English Channel back on D-Day, as the allies prepared to reclaim Europe.

What works really well for you in January is peacemaking and peacekeeping. You are clearly in a highly political situation and as Ceres is also in Capricorn, your opposite sign, not only you are dealing with others in conflict – the emotions are also intense.

Ceres is a symbol of change, adjustment and adaptation. She also comes with some raw feelings, so this is not exactly going to be a cool and logical process. This is where you come in. If anything is to be sorted out here (perhaps even healed) then the excuses for conflict, or even the seeds of future issues, have to be removed.

Saturn, Pluto and Ceres in Capricorn

This is really what it means to have a stellium in Capricorn, the sign that rules the scales of equality, harmony, balance and symmetry in your chart. We are seeing this highly unusual cluster of Saturn, Pluto, Ceres and the rest – at a critical crossroads.

What you do and say now will affect everything long-term. There is no question here about taking sides. You have to take the side of peace, don’t you? The Capricorn weather is in your Seventh House, and that is very much associated with war and peace.

At the other end of your chart, we have this fully loaded Moon in Cancer, your own zodiac sign. This falls in an area of your chart associated with being upfront, front-and-center and so on. This whole affair cannot be private. It is far too public – for you. So, stand up and be counted. Be the change, and all that, and make a stand. You already know you have better things to do in 2020 than waste your time and energy on conflicted people or difficult differences.

Apart from the actual eclipse period itself (best avoided) you could do a great deal to transform the situation on Thursday 2nd January when Jupiter, with all his optimism, positive thinking, humour and problem-solving – comes to visit Mercury, the planet of quick thinking, strategy and cunning plans (to quote Baldrick).

Your 19 Year Karma Cycles

This is a massive month. You will have to be quick and clever, rather like Mercury himself. Do you honestly know how long this could go on for? In fact, every 19 years – until you, he, she or they drop dead. And then, according to astrological wisdom, even beyond that. This is the famous North Node and South Node cycle of eternal karma and it is visiting you in January.

In fact, if you wanted to delve into this idea of eternal cycles, you could look at the situation with these two people, or these two sides, and safely assume it was about past lives. That happens more in astrology than you might suspect. Are we talking Nazi Germany and Great Britain here? That was in a 1940’s repeat of this cycle!

Whatever is at work (and you may not believe in past lives at all) the way your horoscope is set up in January urges you to go in front of the camera, in front of the Skype lens, the eye of  Twitter and the rest. You’ll be center stage, with that Full Moon in your own sign, and it is time to strut your stuff on the stage of life too.

Leo

ibngtbpnuma 600x451 - Your January 2020 Monthly Horoscope

Rebuilding and Reshaping at Work

Leo, you must now take urgent action, with all the leadership you are well-known for. The time has come to get real about the need for rebuilding and restructuring. This is about your full-time career, part-time job, unpaid work (volunteering or domestic chores and gardening, for example), university degree or college course.

What we have here is a question about who is in control, and what is in control. Capricorn rules the pecking order. The hierarchy. It’s about those at the top, in the middle, and at the bottom. Capricorn the mountain goat has long been associated with ladders. So, we talk about ‘climbing the ladder’ of success within a corporation, or ‘scaling the heights’ of a profession. It’s the same with society in general, which Capricorn also rules. The class system is Capricorn. Working class people, the middle classes and the upper classes are all part of the system.

Now, near Thursday the 2nd, Friday the 3rd, Saturday the 4th, Wednesday the 8th, Friday the 10th (best avoided for big decisions as it’s a Full Moon Eclipse), Sunday the 12th, and Monday the 13th of January – you have major challenges. These challenges are also opportunities, but make no mistake, Leo. Unless you pull people together and show some direction (before it is all too late) you are going to end up with a real mess to sort out in 2020.

A classic example would be your own business, with you at the top, and particular people spaced out beneath you. We do associate this cycle with looking up (who is senior or more powerful?) but also looking down (who is right at the very bottom?) It doesn’t really matter if you are a young Leo intern or an older Leo CEO because the story is the same. Unless you act, you are going to see the collapse of a project, plan or even an organisation.

Structure and Solid Ground

I mentioned the idea of rebuilding. Capricorn is an earth sign and is very much about practical and hands-on structuring. If ever there was a situation which needed rapid attention, this is it. The old way of operating is really not ideal. I can understand the surge of optimism and high hopes near January 2nd and 8th when Jupiter controls your horoscope. The only way is up! We can do this thing! It’s a New Year!

Yet, the twist in the tale is the drama of Ceres, Pluto and Saturn. Sure, you could all end up in a new place, a new space, with wonderful outcomes. That hope is there, and as 2020 begins there is a sense that if you can all find a good place to land together, and start finding some unity and solidarity, it’s going to work.

We see the South Node here, which takes us back in time. Depending on your age, Leo, you will be reminded of previous successes. Some rebuilding or restructuring that you did, 19 years ago, and even 19 years before that. Don’t forget that.

Security, Stability, Foundations

It is tremendously important that everyone draws closer together in this extreme weather for your job, career, unpaid work or study. If you all go off at tangents and do your own thing, one project will fall in a heap – or a business may even fall over. It’s dramatic.

I also need to emphasise the importance of optimism. We have bizarre weather in January 2020. Saturn is a symbol of pessimism, fear, negative thinking and that awful ‘resigned to my fate’ stance that honestly does create it.

Jupiter is about Churchillian thinking. Broad, sunlit uplands. Never underestimate Jupiter in your chart. It rules Sagittarius and of course Sir Winston was a Sagittarius Sun leader. What won the war? Unity, solidarity, belief, faith and trust in happy endings.

I can’t help but wonder what is happening to the Democrats in America in January 2020. Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, both Sun Leo people like you, are going to see this, loud and clear, with their party. They can either give up, lose the connection, fear the worst and see it happen – or they can consciously, deliberately and firmly play their part in creating something so new and powerful.

Starting Again by Understanding Power

The power here is between all of you. We always get questions about who/what is in control when Pluto and Ceres are around. The correct answer is ‘all of us, together.’ This is communal and collective thinking.

I’m looking at your chart from Wednesday May 6th, when the North Node moves into your zone of groups. This is hinted at very strongly in January, so five months before it happens.

This year will see tremendous past life karma played out between yourself and your friends or acquaintances within the group.

Future Growth and Promise

Leo, I think you should play the optimist. There is so much budding potential with these people who surround you on a professional, business, voluntary or academic level. What you must do will require breathtaking timing. A tremendous sense of shared purpose. Excellent communication.

Above all, perhaps, the recognition of the need for a new set-up and a new system for 2020. The old one clearly isn’t working, or you would not all be in this situation, now. This has not been a working model for you. Not by a long shot. For whatever reason, it’s become an issue waiting to happen and I suspect you can see why, when you look back at the years 2018 and 2019. The kind of new working model you end up with may involve a completely different way of understanding the layers and levels. This may be about power, class, age, experience, wealth and so on.

In April and May 2001, you had the South Node of fate and fortune, in exactly the same place where it stands in January 2020. So, you have Easter 2001 to look back on, remember, trust and learn from. Ask yourself what you were doing then, career-wise, or as a volunteer or student.

You may be directly affected by a critical restructure in a large corporation or big business which dominates your industry. We are going to see promotion. Perhaps, departures – retirement, job losses or resignations. We may see department mergers, too. Leo, this may directly affect your working life and destiny for many years, very close to Sunday 12th and Monday 13th January.

If ever there was a time to read right across your chosen industry, business, field or profession it’s that weekend. Be that person who takes optimistic advantage of a situation which others know is so precarious. See it his way, her way, their way – and make a move.

Virgo

gblpm9pbro4 600x400 - Your January 2020 Monthly Horoscope

Emotional Fulfilment in January 2020

Your ruling planet Mercury lines up with Jupiter, the planet of offers, solutions and opportunities, on Thursday the 2nd of January. Did you know this pattern in your horoscope can only take place once in every 12 years? It happens in an area of your chart that is associated with younger people, children, junior family members and the next generation (who you may be teaching, or coaching, for example). Younger lovers can also fall into this category – it really depends on your age. We associate this area of your chart with all kinds of interesting things, from sperm donors to the arrival of grown-up children, back from their Gap Year and ready for a new term.

It’s an intensely personal cycle and much depends on your personal birth chart, which you will have, if you are a Premium Member. This conjunction between Mercury and Jupiter is very much associated with ‘my cup runneth over’ and there is so much to give and receive here, emotionally.

The pattern unfolds in the ambitious sign of Capricorn, and that is a reminder that no goal should be considered too high or hard to reach, in January 2020. In fact, it comes with the territory. None of this is a walk in the park, or a pushover. Yet, in terms of your feelings, it’s solid gold. Everything is worth the attempt.

Groups and Friendships

One half of this important eclipse falls in the zodiac sign of Cancer, which rules the groups and friendships in your life. I find this really interesting, Virgo, because you are so unaware of them. An eclipse gives us a blind spot and it would seem that you are so focused on just one person – perhaps a younger nephew, maybe ‘youth’ as a whole – that you’re missing the other story.

This other story is about people pooling resources together in a group. It may be a band. It may be an environmental organisation. Perhaps it is more social, and less formal – like Twitter. In fact, this idea about community, networking, circular thinking and the ‘flow’ between people is inseparable from the other story. A classic example would be a long-lost godson you haven’t seen for years, who comes to stay for the holidays, and brings his network with him.

Your Questions and Your Blind Spots

Your questions about these solid gold, precious, emotional bonds and attachments come with blind spots. The eclipse which takes place on Friday the 10th of January is an absolute classic. You literally will not see, what you are not seeing.

The hidden, deeper message is this. In order to get what they want from life; people have to join forces. They have to ignore the usual divisions of class, age, gender, sexuality, status and so on, if they are all going to share and conquer (rather than divide and conquer). This is ‘Aquarian’ thinking and it’s a bit of a double whammy in your horoscope, because in the year 2020 in your personal birth chart we see the historic arrival of Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius, into the sign of massive new people power.

So, as much as January seems to be about the giving and receiving of the deepest affection, from one generation to another (especially if you are older) – it is very much about the importance of the hive mind. Communal or group thought and feeling. It will take a while for this to become apparent, but within months you’ll come to see that it was written right across this person and situation. Over the next few years, January is memorable for this reason, even if you were not fully aware of it at the time.

Libra

krnzigktz48 600x400 - Your January 2020 Monthly Horoscope

The Waiting Game – Home and Property

The planet Saturn moves very slowly through your horoscope in January 2020, and it’s clear that paying off the mortgage, renovating your apartment, improving your house or saving up for your first flat – is a test. Patience is a virtue where this cycle is concerned.

We have an Eclipse, which is always a case of you not knowing – and not seeing – what is in front of your eyes. In your case, this is most obvious on Friday 10th January, and you may want to allow a day either side. There is a sum of money (or an asset) which should be incorporate into the overall budget. This may be something you need to pay back, or something which is most definitely yours! It’s rather like slowly ploughing money into a property investment and counting all the beans, without realising that you have forgotten about a dusty old bank account which could make a difference.

Your Place in the World

This whole question of your home extends to the ground beneath your feet. We have a huge number of factors in this area of your chart in January. It rules not only your house and garden, apartment and street, but also your wider surroundings. The local area and perhaps your country or homeland.

One of the key factors here is the powerful little planet Ceres. Together with Pluto, to whom she is related, she has come to symbolise the need for a new order. You are into a new year and 2018-2019 has left you with rather a lot to sort out and clean up. You are also entering the third year of a slow revolution with the bank; your income; your investments.

All these change signals in your chart as the new year begins, suggests that although you are watching and waiting, you may gain far more by being proactive. New growth can and should occur in your life, no matter if it’s enhancing the value of your house or doing more to sort out your block of apartments.

Rolling Up Your Sleeves

This is going to mean hard work and lots of it. As the year begins, you have the marvelous planet Jupiter, a sign of potential growth and abundance, making an appearance in your property, housing, hometown and homeland zone. In fact, what you hear or read very close to the Mercury-Jupiter conjunction of Thursday the 2nd of January, should have you thinking bigger. You have become so used to everything going at a snail’s pace in 2019, that you may have fallen into the habit of accepting a long deadline for everything.

What the new astrological weather of the new year is giving you, Libra, is the chance to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in. Nothing can really evolve or improve for you until you pay attention to the purely financial side of it all. It is time to remember what the Romans knew about Jupiter, their favourite planet and god. They associated him with maximising opportunities, as optimistically as possible. He was Jupiter Optimus Maximus to them.

The Romans, who gave us our modern astrology (not the Greeks, as it is mistakenly assumed) also linked Jupiter to acorns and oaks. Oak groves were sacred to him. You have not seen this Jupiter cycle in your life for 12 years. Now, it is back – not to haunt you, but to help you.

Work and Home Combinations

If you combine your profession with your home in some way (I have a few farmers who are Premium Members of this website) or you blend your business interests with your roots or heritage in some way, the message about potential is doubled. You would be mad not to organise your affairs in January, in a way that helps you do some constructive life gardening. If you have invested in a vineyard for example, rather than assume that you just have to keep on watching the turn of the seasons, you may want to wake up and get cracking with new plans.

Libra, the other great meaning of this cycle is connected to your roots. To your history, culture and heritage. The family tree on both sides, but also your nationality and ancestry.

One of the most telling features of this eclipse is that you are so busy wondering when money really will grow on trees – that you are missing the truth about where you come from. A little digging could turn up some buried treasure, Libra.

Scorpio

hpa ayxvq6s 600x402 - Your January 2020 Monthly Horoscope

The January Eclipse and You

An eclipse is always going to leave you in the dark, Scorpio. I don’t know if you saw the famous total eclipses in Great Britain and America, but if so – you will have remembered the peculiar way in which day turned to night. As above, so below. We have an eclipse and Full Moon on Friday 10th January, in areas of your horoscope associated with the worldwide web, publishing, education, academia and the mass media in all its forms. Projects, plans and ideas.

I strongly recommend that you don’t act or judge on the eclipse. This Lunar Eclipse is exact at 7.21pm UT on the 10th of January and may be felt either side of that day, give or take a few hours. Given that we live in a 24-hour world on Twitter, you may want to give yourself and others rather a lot of time and space. Why? The fact is that you, he, she or they are whistling in the dark.

The Third House of your horoscope is ruled by Capricorn, and it is here that we usually find the paperwork and the publications.

The Full Moon Effects on Your Plans

On a Full Moon without an eclipse, you would be able to see everything very clearly, in quite sharp detail. Just as you see your garden or the trees in the street outside, in natural night lighting, you would normally be made aware of just where the puzzles or questions are. Now, we have a partial picture, if not a total blackout. Given that this is Capricorn we’re talking about (the Sun is in Capricorn opposite the Moon in Cancer) we also need to look at the hierarchy involved. The status game. Capricorn rules your place in the scheme of things and raises issues about who is ‘higher than’ and also ‘lower than’. The people who are involved with this matter will get you thinking about that too. Who is entitled, qualified, higher up, further down, more important, less important and so on.

You really need to wait for light to be shed – and eventually that will happen. Then, you can see who and what you are really working with. In January, though, the person who is setting himself or herself up as your guiding light, may be leading you on a wild goose chase, or worse. Even if you decide to take it upon yourself to go on some kind of fact-finding mission or grand quest, you may want to ask yourself if you’re seeing straight and thinking straight.

There is something really intriguing about what is on your computer screen, or theirs – or what is on paper. No wonder everyone concerned is ready to set everything aside in January to make it the centerpiece. The conditions are wrong, though. And you simply won’t know just what matters, and what does not, until this eclipse has gone. It’s rather like having a comedy script at Walt Disney and being involved in one of those planning meetings where the boss has gone on vacation and an underling is left in charge. The script may be great, but the timing is wrong. Or – think about the author who has plans for a spirituality website but has just turned up at the wrong internet start-up company, at the wrong time, with the wrong person to assist.

There is a good way of describing this situation with your university/college degree, your project, your big idea or sketch. It’s high potential first or second draft. There is buried treasure there but when an eclipse always involves so much ‘yet to be revealed’ you may want to look carefully after what you hold in your hands and wait for this heavy Capricorn weather to pass.

Given that Capricorn rules ambitious types who want to move on up, take shortcuts and the rest (and the occasional jumped-up little pipsqueak) you may want to give anyone who fits that description the once-over. Wanting to get ahead and be ahead of the game is all very well, but whose hands is this plan actually in?

Your Finances in January 2020

The eclipse in the signs of Cancer and Capricorn, which both rules your finances, property, charity and business interests – rule January. I don’t think you’re going to read anything that departs too much from that, if you like to look up different horoscopes online, in magazines and newspapers, and the rest. Just about every astrologer will be taking about money.

There is a very great need to make it real – and keep it real. I am going to use the phrase ‘every cloud has a silver lining’ because what is potentially on offer to you, comes from what is rather a bleak situation. Can you make money from a downturn, for example, or gain in some way from grey financial winter days in the Northern Hemisphere? You certainly can, if you have faith.

The fact is, your ruler Jupiter is now in your zone of income, reward, benefits, loans, sales and the rest – for the first time in 12 years. This is personal, Sagittarius. Yet, Jupiter requires a hands-on and practical approach. You have to own what is owed to you, could be given to you, paid to you or lent to you.

Home and Career

We associate the Cancer-Capricorn axis of your horoscope with houses, apartments, gardens and land. It is also very much about salary, business and Wall Street graphs. You are now in a position to take what is on offer and really capitalise on what you already have. Perhaps – to be more ambitious about your career, university/college degree or part-time job. The Sun in the sign of Capricorn is about striving. Reaching for the so-called impossible peaks of achievement, laid out for you in 2020 and 2021, perhaps as late as 2022-2023.

The eclipse suggests some of what comes to pass, financially, will be hidden from view. As above, so below – in astrology. An eclipse conceals, it never reveals. There may be some secret-keeping taking place here, or there may be a cover-up. The unknown X factors are pretty high here. For many Sagittarians, the financial question is related to a marriage, common-law marriage, civil partnership, legacy or inheritance. Such matters frequently involve a great deal of secrecy or subterfuge. Your husband’s trust fund may involve a lot of matters which are under wraps with his mother, for example. The bargain-basement loan you are offered by an online bank may come with all sorts of mysteries. Yet, it’s pretty hard to complain about Jupiter, the planet of abundance, empire-building, expansion, growth, hope and big thinking. There is a big message here, to invest in the future. The gates are open. You can see what might be, up ahead, and as you are the explorer and adventurer of the zodiac, I think you’ll find the temptation irresistible.

Selling your council flat and moving to the country might be an example of this. There is a sense that January is a case of being in the right time, with the right opportunity, but not yet immediately in the right place. To get there, you are going to have to strike a deal, both with yourself and the universe – and your horoscope. Ceres is also in Capricorn and she is very much about this kind of deal-making. Pluto is there too and there is no doubt that if you lean hard on all your willpower, you could turn things around in a substantial way.

Even if you have to travel far to claim your inheritance and make it real – even if you have to look at other currencies, taxation exile or whatever is facing you – the time has come. It’s now or never.

Capricorn

k pbb5wjtau 600x400 - Your January 2020 Monthly Horoscope

Believing in Your Own Relaunch

In January 2020, you must believe in your own right to a relaunch and use all your strength and self-control to go there. You have been living with very difficult conditions since last year and must now take an opportunity and run with it. This may be about your personal appearance. The labels people put on you. It’s rather like being a Christmas present in particular wrapping, with particular ribbon. Nobody knows the contents, but they make judgements anyway.

The internet is about as superficial as it gets! Everybody has wrapping, and you can’t really escape that. You are boxed and identified as being a particular kind of person, or even judged just by where you are in life. Your circumstances have identified you and a label has been slapped on.

New Year and New Resolutions

The fact is, Jupiter is now in Capricorn, your own zodiac sign, for the first time in over a decade. This month sees extreme Capricorn weather and you are in a fantastic position to make changes. Nothing and nobody can stop you except yourself. Do not let your imagination replace facts.

We have an eclipse coming up, with the Sun in Capricorn (again, your own sign) opposite the Moon in Cancer. On Friday 10th January, and perhaps up to 24 hours either side, try to resist assuming or guessing anything. You have Saturn, a symbol of basic and fundamental fear, also in your own sign. (I told you January was unusual!) You would be entitled to feel a little trepidation about your situation and yourself, around 10th January, but please remember, eclipses can be awfully misleading. In fact, eclipses can keep you stuck for months, even years. They blind us to the truth. I am sure you know that if you look at a total eclipse, without protective glasses, you can risk blindness.

In astrology, we see parallels and synchronicities everywhere. It’s what our particular kind of divination is based on. So, in your particular case, you are virtually blindfolded for a day or two, as you go into January. That would be the point at which you resist doing or saying anything too dramatic.

I am sure you’d like to as the build-up of frustration must have been immense; these last few weeks and months. Yet, you are so much better off either acting very early on or waiting until the eclipse has passed. And by acting – I do mean acting. Here’s why.

The Slings and Arrows

For all sorts of reasons (some of them to do with karma) you have been on the receiving end of slings and arrows in 2019. Shakespeare thought fortune was ‘outrageous’ and so it sometimes is, Capricorn. I don’t know if you’ve been outright doing battle, or just surrounded by constant needling: the pinpricks of irritation. It’s really plain to see that your Seventh House of rivals, enemies and opponents has been packed, however. And this has led you, psychologically and emotionally, to the position you find yourself in as 2020 begins.

What would you do, if you knew you could use these slings and arrows, to quote Shakespeare, to change your life? They are a means to an end. Sweeping transformation is now possible. There is nothing in the overall picture of your chart to suggest there will be any more (of anything) flung your way. Far from it. Jupiter protects. He is now in Capricorn. You are free to explore 2020 and see where it takes you. You are not ‘that’ woman, or ‘that’ man this year – not unless you want to be, and I very much doubt that.

Saturn in Capricorn

If you feel the usual restrictions and limitations of Saturn, your ruling planet, in your own sign – it is because you have succumbed. Use who/what once threatened you, to work for you. You may imagine it’s all impossible to budge. Far from it. You just can’t see it. Honestly, with not too much effort (just a bit of faith and belief) you could help yourself to move forward, purely by exploiting what has happened. This is a psychological tool for transformation, perhaps.

The great irony of what you have been subjected to, in 2019 (and perhaps ongoing) is that it works for you. A good example of this would be declaring ‘Game on!’ and actually using what was once a threat, to become an excuse to do better. To go further. To become so much more than you were.

There may be issues here about how you physically look, though there is no reason for that. You are a chrysalis in 2020 and the butterfly is waiting.

In astrology, we look at the past to inform the future. At one point in history, Sir Winston Churchill had this pattern written in his destiny. He was in the wilderness, politically (the famous Wilderness Years). He came back, growling, with cigar in hand, flashing the V for Victory sign, as he led Great Britain to take on Germany. He took on his opponents at Westminster. In doing so, he became born again, as the leader you did not want to mess with. He used those against him (the enemies on all fronts) to become the making of him. He did so, fully aware of how he looked for the cameras. Today he would have used the internet.

This is an intensely personal transformation if you want it and no two Capricorn people will experience it in the same way. Yet, with Jupiter urging you to think bigger and be so much more trusting and optimistic about yourself in 2020 – the time to act is now. Please be aware of that eclipse period, though. In your sign!

Aquarius

fjt3zn2ihik 600x400 - Your January 2020 Monthly Horoscope

The Eclipse in Your January Horoscope

A Full Moon is always inner conflict and usually outer conflict, too. We have not only a Full Moon, but also a Lunar Eclipse, on Friday 10th January at 7.21pm (UT).

Part of you is so wedded to your spirituality. To your faiths and beliefs. It may be astrology, Buddhism, Islam or any philosophy at all. It has become part of you. You have just emerged from Christmas and many Aquarians will have spent December with angels gazing down upon them from on high. Perhaps this is why you are in the rather odd situation of needing to be on the defensive, and even prepared to thrust and parry – but not actually moving very much. You can sing Onward Christian Soldiers or chant with experts chosen by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, but that’s all.

Your Inner World of Faith and Belief

The fact is, you have a huge line-up of factors in Capricorn, one sign behind you, and that takes you firmly behind the scenes, into your own soul or spirit. This often finds a home in formal religion or beliefs, and sometimes it’s a particular blend of what you feel to be true, deep inside. This is the very foundation upon which you rest. It has made you what you are, and we need to right back to your infancy and toddler years to find out who or what was propelling you. Whatever you have adopted as an adult, is another layer. And now, in January 2020, you have to remember that, and respect it, quite as much as the fact that you respect your own right to push back.

Oppositions and Opponents

The other end of the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is the Moon in Cancer, right opposite the Sun in Capricorn, and this brings us to matters of work, unpaid work, daily routine, college/university life and the nuts and bolts of your lifestyle. This is where you are most likely to feel you have to keep particular people at bay. Saturn is in Capricorn, and this is very much a symbol of self-protection and firm boundaries. In fact, if you look at the planet through a telescope you will see he has surrounded himself with rings.

You have quite the force-field around you in January, Aquarius. You must be true to your beliefs, and these fall firmly on the side of peacemaking and peacekeeping – yet you can’t be wide open. There is a point at which you just refuse to let specific faces or organisations invade your space or tread on your turf, and it is likely to come to a head as the year begins. In fact, it may be your actual beliefs that you feel you have to defend. The Twelfth House of your chart is an extremely sensitive and mysterious place and I would never dream of guessing at what those beliefs might be. Your ideas about God and heaven, the universe, the cosmos and the rest have become part of who you are, though, and that’s not about to change.

One thing it is necessary to point out is that an eclipse always brings a smokescreen effect. Just as the Moon and Sun blot each other out, on Friday 10th January (perhaps a day either side) you will be operating with a great deal you cannot see. For this reason, you may want to let the eclipse itself pass before doing or saying anything drastic. Wait for life to become clearer, Aquarius.

Pisces

xtnt5xtk03e 600x400 - Your January 2020 Monthly Horoscope

Feeding the Community, Needing the Community

You’ve never seen a line-up like this, Pisces, and it concerns your deepest instincts about your friends, the groups you are involved with, and the most important circle in your life. This may be Alcoholics Anonymous or your church. Your nearest and dearest, best-friends network – or an animal rights group. We have a stellium (unusually high cluster) of planets including Saturn, Ceres and Pluto, all in this area of your horoscope. No wonder January is so important. What you do now will set you up for the rest of the year and may be there for all time – actually.

Jupiter, the planet of abundance, is about to give you more than you or anybody else asked for. This is cosmic overflow. We associate Jupiter with output and input in astrology, and it’s quite true that the more you pour in, the more you get out. Jupiter is about what grows, expands and spills over. This is now very true with the people around you. You’ve not seen this level of potential people power in a very long time.

Sexuality and Self-Knowledge

The other end of the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is the Moon in Cancer, a water sign like your own. Cancer is emotional, instinctive and physically quite needy – it is also a sign that likes to be needed and held. This month is very important to your sexuality and self-knowledge. Just avoid the actual eclipse itself, on Friday the 10th of January – and allow a day either side for the world to catch up with itself. Your awareness and insight are not great, then.

Is your body the means to another branch on the family tree, or is your body purely reserved for your own brand of sexual satisfaction and happiness? Those kinds of questions tend to turn up on a Full Moon in your Fifth House.

Were you made for pregnancy or were you made for hedonism? The Moon in astrology is an unusual symbol, because it is associated with motherhood, but also with women who turn right away from marriage and children. You’d have to say the Moon is writ large in your chart in January. To say it’s a month of self-discovery is an understatement. You are here to learn! This applies no matter if the stork is watching you from afar in January or not.

Circles Upon Circles

What we seem to have in January is circles, upon circles, upon circles. If you were a country, we’d say it was about the United Nations and NATO. As a human being, with all the great sensitivity and feeling that Pisces is known for, you are plugging into a fascinating part of your life, dedicated to friendship and networks. This is not networking. It’s not like the Facebook film – The Social Network. Nothing could be further removed from where you are at, spiritually, psychologically and emotionally, as 2020 begins.

You’ve waited a very long time for a cycle like this and now you can set up your year so that you, and all those in your circles, can only grow and spread. It’s pretty unlikely you’ll finish the month with everyone intact. You are going to see some departures.

You will pursue this new chapter in your usual Piscean way, which is without much heed for boundaries, rules or regulations. You are ruled by Neptune, the planet we associate with merging, and occasional chaos. This only makes you feel more at home with the situation, as ‘everybody, everywhere, all the time’ is pretty much the Pisces mantra. There is so much to go around this month, from circle to circle, you’ll be in a position to create the most tremendous flow, which spills over into the rest of 2020 as well.
